Master's degree in Marine Sciences, I currently work as a Research Assistant with a permanent position at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Marine Sciences of Andalusia (ICMAN), in the Oceanography of Ecosystem Group (GOE).

My expertise focuses on the study of the marine pelagic ecosystem, addressing the dynamics of planktonic communities in relation to environmental factors, and the assessment of the biogeochemical state of the pelagic ecosystem in the context of global change.

Educational Background

• BSc degree in Marine Science from the University of Cádiz (1998).
• Stays at international research centres, such as the Federal University of Rio Grande (Brazil), funded by the Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores y Cooperación (1999), and participation in the Baltic International Floating University (Russian State Hydrometeorological University - University of Cádiz), supported by a UNESCO scholarship (2000).
• MSc degree in Marine Science (2004), focused on characterizing Antarctic planktonic communities associated with mesoscale hydrographic structures.

Previous experience summary

With over 20 years of experience as technician in the field of research, I have acquired specialized skills and knowledge that enable me to apply specific methods and tools for the study of marine ecosystems.  

My experience and contributions can be summarized as follows:

• Participation in 17 national, regional, and European research projects and contracts, with three of them focused in the study of the Antarctic ecosystem.
• Contribution to more than 20 scientific articles, reports, datasets, and book chapters, with 13 of them published in Science Citation Index (SCI) journals, and participation in over 30 congresses and workshops.
• Participation in 46 oceanographic campaigns across diverse marine ecoregions, with the role of chief scientist in 2 of them, and as the operator responsible for oceanographic instrumentation on board in 17 of them.
• Operation and maintenance of scientific instrumentation, and implementation of specific techniques at the GOE`s lab, along with processing and analysis of data. Highlight my contribution to the technical support for the establishment of the Gibraltar Fixed Time Series (GIFT) ocean observatory in 2005, led by Dr. Huertas (ICMAN-CSIC).
• Support for the research activity of the Oceanography of Ecosystems Group (ICMAN-CSIC) as project manager, specialized in the Research and Innovation Framework Program of the European Union.
