Educational Background

• Degree in Biology from the University of Seville (1995).
• Ph.D. in Marine Sciences from the University of Cádiz (1999), receiving the Annual Ph.D. Award.

Early Research and Publications

• Initially focused on the taxonomic study of crustacean larval stages, a line of research still being pursued.
• Published 14 scientific articles (8 in SCI) during undergraduate and doctoral studies.

Postdoctoral Stage and Further Research

• Began postdoctoral research in 2001 with a grant from the Ministry of Science and Technology of Portugal.
• Developed a second line of research on the coupling of physical and biological processes affecting the dispersal and recruitment patterns of littoral benthic organisms.
• Published 5 scientific articles linked to this postdoctoral research.

Academic and Research Career

• In 2004, joined the University of Cádiz with the Ramón y Cajal Program in the Department of Biology (Ecology Area), marking the start of a teaching career.
• From 2004-2008, led the creation of a new research team focusing on marine zooplankton organisms' morphology and ecology.
• Led a Research Project of the National Plan and participated in two Projects of Excellence of the Junta de Andalucía.
• Served on the Organizing Committee of an International Congress and participated in several oceanographic campaigns.
• Received a positive evaluation from the ANEP as a Researcher with Outstanding Scientific Career (Program I3) and accreditation of Contracted Doctor Professor (ANECA), leading to a hiring as a Contracted Doctor Professor in January 2009.

Advancements in Academic Positions

• Accredited by ANECA in December 2009 to join the Body of University Professors, assuming the position in August 2010.
• Obtained University Professor Accreditation from ANECA in 2015.
